NEWSLETTER #154     “What's Love Got to do With It?”    FEBUARY 2017

Classmates,

It seems like a long time since we last talked. I guess as I am getting older, the time seems to fly by at a much faster rate. Then again, it could just be me, what do you think?

February is the month for “Creative Romance,” and on the 14th of the month we celebrate Valentine’s Day. So, with that being said, I thought I would let my softer side prevail and venture into the world of LOVE. Come on now, I’m not trying to project a vision of me as a “cherub cheeked cupid.” Maybe, just someone trying to explain (as the title suggests), “WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?”

There are plenty of definitions for the word “LOVE.” That isn’t our style, so I figured that the articles I received this month, from Classmates and Friends would give us all a much better perspective of  “WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?” After you complete going through these articles, you will be able to answer that question for yourself.

Enough said, let’s get into the LOVE of the Newsletter:

•          The Website for the “Fork” Home Page is:
                                    http://www.rizon.biz/Aragon/AragonHomePage.htm
if that doesn’t work for you, just contact me by e-mail:
ddlvr55@gmail.com or phone (702) 656-1696

•          The “Connections and Reconnections (C/R) Section” - Connected or Reconnected with a Classmate or just want to contact a Classmate, but don’t have any contact information?  Let me know (see above).  This section still remains active, each and every month.

•          “Who Said That - Movie Quote Addition” (WST - MQA): - this site is a lot of fun for me to coordinate each month.  Many of you come up with correct answers, they just come in too late.  The first week of a new month is the time for you to check and get your answers in to me - ASAP.

JANUARY’S QUOTE was:  “THIS CROWD HAS GONE DEADLY SILENT. CINDERELLA STORY. OUTTA NOWHERE. A FORMER GREENSKEEPER, NOW, ABOUT TO BECOME THE MASTERS CHAMPION. IT LOOKS LIKE A MIRA... IT’S IN THE HOLE! IT’S IN THE HOLE!
THE JANUARY ANSWER IS: “CADDY SHACK”  and the actor is “BILL MURRAY”
            THE WINNER IS: GARY ROCKLAGE

            FEBRUARY’S QUOTE:  “ALL RIGHT, MICKEY’S A MOUSE, DONALD’S A DUCK, PLUTO’S A DOG. WHAT’S GOOFY?”

*REMEMBER YOU NEED THE NAME OF THE MOVIE AND THE NAME AND/OR NAMES OF THE ACTOR(S) WHO SAID THE QUOTE. SEND YOUR ANSWER TO
ddlvr55@gmail.com   ASAP!

•          “The Bucket List (B/L) Challenge”:   The B/L Remains On Sabbatical!  Okay, I need your assistance to bring this back to life...  help if you can...  this is on “life support” as you read the Newsletter!

Hooah, Hugs & “WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?” - Bob

Well, Classmates, after your thoughts, impute, analysis  examples   and all the different places LOVE shows up, I have come up with a answer to the question of this month’s Newsletter title:  “WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?” Thanks for all your assistance for February.

My final assessment, there are “two main places” LOVE shows up in all of our daily lives: FAMILY and MUSIC. The connection in both is extremely strong. The FAMILY connection should be easy for you to agree with. The MUSIC side of LOVE for us, I can attempt to explained with the following examples:

During our senior year at Aragon, there were 17 songs that were very popular. In many cases, they were listened to more than a couple of times a day. I submit the following to stimulate those great 1964 memories:

• All my LOVING - Beatles  • Ain’t that LOVING you - Elvis  • A world without LOVE - Peter & Gordon  • Can’t buy me LOVE - Beatles  • Don’t throw your LOVE away - Searchers  • Baby LOVE - Supremes  • She LOVES you - Beatles  • LOVE me do - Beatles  • Chapel of LOVE - Dixie Cups  • Every body LOVES some body - Dean Martin  • Where did our LOVE go - Supremes  • LOVE me with all your heart - Ray Charles  • It hurts to be in LOVE - Gene Pitney  • Baby I need your LOVING - Four Tops  • I LOVE you more and more each day - Al Martino  • I want to LOVE him so bad - Jelly Beans  • Do you LOVE me - Dave Clark Five.

Now, for the second half, to explain why those memories of 53 years ago are still needed and wanted in 2017.  In 2014, at our 50th Aragon Reunion, (yes, it already is close to 3 years ago!),  there were only 3 songs that stood out with the word LOVE in their title:

Drunk in LOVE - Beyonce & Jay Z      ♥  LOVE runs out - One Republic
♥  LOVE never felt so good - Michael Jackson & Justin Timerlake.

I think the “FAMILY - LOVE” connection pretty well speaks for itself.  I don’t know if I explained the “MUSIC - LOVE” connection well enough, but it works for me; so, I will see what you think about this scientific research done with the ultimate in endless information.  Finally, I will leave you with two last thoughts:

♥  “WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?” - - - “EVERY THING!”

♥  Endless LOVE - Lionel Richie & Diana Ross (1981 most popular of all time - #1 for 9 weeks).

*  "DANCING" was a close third...now you know the whole story!
